Kaboom Animation Festival is the main animation festival in the Netherlands, taking place each year in March in Utrecht, Amsterdam and online. The festival attracts approximately 36,000 visits across cinema screenings, industry sessions, talks, panels, VR works, video games, installations and exhibitions. In addition to being an international audience festival, showcasing more than 300 animated shorts and feature films in a wide range of programmes primarily aimed at adults, the Kaboom Industry Days form a key component of the event. During these Industry Days, the festival aims to support the development of the Dutch animation industry on both a national and international level by providing a platform for exchange and inspiration. The industry programme is built around international collaborations, networking opportunities, as well as the presentation and mentorship of emerging talent. XR is embedded in Kaboom’s and programming through a dedicated focus on expanded animation. The festival integrates XR through the Expanded Animation Expo, which showcases the most interesting national and international VR works. This is further strengthened by VR Day, a professional and educational platform that brings together students, artists, curators, and industry experts through talks, discussions, and networking events such as the Future of VR Talk and the Dutch Panorama Talk. Cette approche est renforcée par le VR Days, une plateforme professionnelle qui réunit étudiants, artistes, curateurs et experts du secteur autour de conférences, discussions, événements de réseautage, tels que Future of VR Talk et le Dutch Panorama Talk.
